The Eclipse Remote Control app provides a sophisticated solution for remotely managing an Eventide Eclipse through an iPhone or iPad operating on iOS 8 or later. For users of the iPad, expanded compatibility allows control of additional devices including the DSP4000, DSP4500, DSP7000, DSP7500, Orville, H8000, and H7600.

The application facilitates user interaction by enabling key-press transmissions to the Eventide device, while simultaneously mirroring the Eventide device's display within the app. It offers a robust control system with the ability to configure 16 MIDI CC sliders for nuanced adjustments to the Eventide device.

For devices in the DSP series, Orville series, and H series, eight on-screen sliders are available for controlling the displayed parameters. The Eclipse version on iPad provides a user-friendly selection screen specifically designed for loading presets.

Supporting both network MIDI over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the application utilizes Bonjour technology for discovering any available network MIDI connections on the local network. Furthermore, it accommodates any Core Audio-compliant MIDI interface connected to the device. The app’s design is adaptable, supporting both landscape and portrait orientations on the iPad; however, portrait mode is not available on the iPhone.

Limitations:

• The Eventide devices' Encoder is not supported due to constraints within the Eventide SysEx protocol.
• Screen display transmission via MIDI introduces some latency; updates for the Eclipse take approximately half a second, whereas other devices may experience delays ranging from one to two and a half seconds.
• Real-time update of parameters through onscreen controls or sliders occurs instantaneously, allowing users to hear changes immediately; however, display updates revert once parameter adjustments cease.
• There are restrictions concerning how certain animations appear from Eventide devices in the app. For instance, while in modulation setup with LFO sources, dynamic bar-graph animations visible on the actual device are not replicated in the app. This discrepancy arises from the limitations of MIDI SysEx data transmission speeds which hinder real-time animative displays.
